About us

Birmingham Sushi Classes (the crew)
Bonnie is our reservation wrangler, walking FAQ, website builder, travel coordinator and all around BSC guru.
Chef Kelly is our sushi instructor and is in her 11th year of working as a sushi chef, with an additional 15 years of professional cooking.
Chef Ashley is our part-timer who's specialty is sushi parties!  She always brings the fun and her creative sushi rolls.
Chef Brooke is our "sushi chef on the beach."  She'll come to you on your vacation, feed you a sushi spread and keep you from having to wait 2 hours for a table at a mediocre restaurant.  Bonus: No designated driver needed.  Check out @bamasushi on Instagram to book us in 2024.
Birmingham Sushi Classes (how it happened)
We started dabbling in teaching people how to make sushi at home in 2011 because customers at the sushi bar kept asking if we could "come to their house and show them how to make sushi?"
By 2013, we had a pretty good little side hustle going.  In 2016, Kelly was able to quit her job behind the sushi bar and focus on the business full-time.
Our main focus began with teaching classes in local breweries all over the southeast, then we added private, in-home parties and recently added teaching college students at universities, including Alabama, Ole Miss, Troy, South Alabama and Auburn + classes on campus in Sorority houses at Bama & UT.
Since we began this little project, we've had over 13,000 people take the class in 16 different states.
